Top Honeymoon Destinations

Every couple wants something different out of their honeymoon. Some want once-in-a-lifetime experiences, others want adventure in the great wide somewhere, and some just want to nap in the sun. I am going to break down my top destination recommendations by category to help you decide where you would like to go.

Sunshine Seekers

St. Lucia

With white sand beaches and beautifully clear waters, who could dream of a more relaxing oasis for a honeymoon?! Many resorts in St. Lucia cater to honeymooners and offer all-inclusive packages, which could be very appealing to newlyweds.

Hawaii

The four main islands – Kauai, Maui, Oahu, and the Island of Hawaii – all have honeymoon potential! Hawaiian cruises are a very popular honeymoon choice, because how could anyone possibly choose just one?! Island hopping may or may not appeal to clients, depending on how much traveling versus relaxing they’re keen on doing. Be sure to present a few options to those clients who have decided on Hawaii as their honeymoon destination to ensure that they find the best fit!

Bali

Bali is a desirable honeymoon destination because of its luxurious setting without the 5-star price tag! The lush tropical paradise is more attainable than most believe it to be thanks to its budget-friendly dining and accommodation options. Bali has a wet season (November-March) with more rainfall and slightly cooler temperatures and a dry season (April-October) with larger crowds and higher temperatures. It’s helpful to convey this information to your clients to help them make the most well-informed decision about when to take their Bali honeymoon. Whatever time of year they choose, they’ll enjoy some of the best beaches and kindest locals in the world!

Maldives

One of the more expensive and luxurious destinations is Maldives. The destination was made more popular in recent years via aerial Instagram images displaying the crystal clear Indian Ocean. Guests can stay in villas or bungalows built directly on the water. Whether it’s an ultra-luxe or more authentic experience your clients are seeking here, there are accommodations to meet all needs. There are ample opportunities for beachfront grazing and dining, water sports, and other recreational activities in this picture-perfect paradise.
TIP: Maldives with a stop in Dubai on the way is a great choice for those couples wishing to combine fun in the sun with a bit more of an adventure!

Adventure Seekers

Greece

From its breathtaking blue water to its brightly colored buildings, Greece has much to offer newlyweds by way of relaxation and adventure. Crete, the largest Greek island, is situated along the Mediterranean Sea and is known for its beautiful sand beaches and the White Mountains. Here, couples can enjoy a variety of activities both on land and at sea including safari and sailing experiences.
Santorini, boasting stunning views of the Aegean Sea, offers newlyweds picture-perfect sunset moments and luxurious relaxation. Corfu offers historic monuments and rich heritage to explore in addition to its gorgeous landscape along the Ionian Sea. Greece itself is a prime culinary spot, too! With its stunning scenery and ample adventure opportunities, it’s easy to see why Greece lands a spot on this list.

Costa Rica

Another honeymoon destination offering a great mix of sun, sand, and land is Costa Rica! Many resorts here offer all-inclusive packages, but a customizable honeymoon package is the way to go for clients looking for more than just beaches. Adventures here include volcano-warmed hot springs, whitewater rafting, waterfall discoveries, hiking and trekking, zip lining, and so much more. Costa Rica’s rainforests create a tropical, romantic setting for newlyweds to relax in, while also offering the opportunity to discover dozens of animal species!

Italy

Many people think of Italy when asked about romantic places in the world, so it’s no surprise that it makes the list of top honeymoon destinations. What makes Italy a great choice is the opportunity to combine adventure and relaxation, if guests so choose. Visiting castles, wine tastings, volcano sightseeing, architecture exploration, gondola rides, hiking, and so much more will appease the desire for adventure. Lake Como, Rome, Venice, Tuscany, Florence, and the Amalfi Coast are among the most popular spots in the country for newlyweds.

Fiji Islands

Turtle Island is a popular honeymoon destination among the Fiji Islands, as it is known for only allowing 14 couples at a time! The island remains adults-only throughout most of the year, with the only exception made for “Family Weeks.” What makes Turtle Island adventurous is the opportunity for intimate interactions with marine animals during diving and snorkeling sessions. Guests can also take advantage of the opportunity to go horseback riding along the beach! Additional activities offered on the island include kayaking, windsurfing, mountain biking, and much more to fuel the adventurous newlyweds.

Something unique and exotic
Japan

The buzzing city of Tokyo is a popular spot, renowned for its culture and for being home to the busiest street crossing in the world at Shibuya. Kyoto offers one of the most romantic destinations in the country, with its bamboo forest and beautiful ancient temples. Volcanically-warmed hot springs, or onsen, are another great draw for newlyweds!
New Zealand
Home to an abundance of wineries, New Zealand is a wine-lover’s dream honeymoon. Waiheke Island is a great spot for newlyweds seeking beautiful beaches and vineyards in a remote destination, with easy access to Auckland! Depending on the location, there are also ample hiking, trekking, diving, skiing and snowboarding opportunities, depending on the time of year. New Zealand is also a great choice for those seeking a wintery honeymoon involving glacier visits – Fox Glacier even offers heli-hiking!
